Established in 1948 by choreographer George Balanchine and arts aficionado Lincoln Kirstein, the New York City ballet is one of the foremost dance companies in the world. Now under the direction of Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins and Executive Director Katherine Brown, the company has an active repertory of more than 150 works, most of which were created for NYCB and many of which are considered modern masterpieces. New York City Ballet MOVES is composed of a select group of NYCB musicians and dancers from all ranks of the Company. Miriam Miller, a NYCB dancer from Iowa City, will dance during the Hancher performances, which will feature live music. The program will include choreography by Christopher Wheeldon, Justin Peck, and Jerome Robbins.
